Breast Cancer

Due to the fact that there is little known about the precise factors which lead to cells within the breast becoming cancerous, it is difficult to predict courses for the disease’s prevention. However, it has been acknowledged that early detection, and in turn, treatment greatly improve the chances of successfully fighting breast cancer.

It is never too early to start the detection process. Here are some tips:

  • Make sure you examine your breasts every month after your period - ask your doctor to show you how to do this properly. If you notice a change in your breast tissue, consult your doctor.
  • Get your doctor to examine your breasts once a year.
  • It is recommended women start having regular mammograms (x- ray of breast tissue) at the age of 50, every two years.
